Building commences on Stourbridge's New Day Surgery Facility
Building has commenced on a brand new state-of-the-art day surgery hospital on Bradley Road, Stourbridge. The new facility will be an extension of services already offered at West Midlands Hospital, just under 5 miles away.
The day surgery hospital is due to open in September 2020 and will provide services for private, insured and NHS patients within the local community and further afield. The new facility will include one theatre and recovery area, six day-patient pods, seven outpatient consulting rooms, two pre-assessment rooms and a minor treatment room offering treatment for pain management, urology, endoscopy and ophthalmology (eye care) and eighty car parking spaces.
This major development will also create new employment opportunities, with approximately 23 vacancies in nursing, nursing support, clinical, administration and support services, with many opportunities for training and professional development.
Lisa Powell, Hospital Director at West Midland Hospital will oversee the management of the new facility and believes that it will not only meet the communities’ high demand for its services but also become a community hub. Mrs Powell said: “Not only will this bring new jobs to the area, it will also build on West Midland Hospital’s clinical reputation to continue to provide high quality care for all our patients.”
Dr Andy Jones, CEO of Ramsay Health Care UK attended the official ground breaking ceremony said: “I am delighted we are able to support the local health community with this development, our team will be able to continue to provide great care to our patients in a day case model. The support in our investment of this facility from the local NHS Trust has been fantastic and its partnership with Ramsay in the interests of the local communities we serve.”
