Joining Ramsay Health Care

Ramsay offers two models of practice for Consultants to work with us.

Employed Model: Attractive package for Consultants looking to join the Independent Sector with a protected salary.

Practising Privileges: Flexible engagement model to suit the individual, tailored to accommodate your professional and private life.

All clinicians must be able to demonstrate the required level of experience and competence to work in our facilities and must be registered on the specialist GMC register as a Consultant.

Appraisal and Revalidation

Ramsay Health Care UK is a Designated Body for GMC Revalidation for Medical Practitioners who hold Practising Privileges at a Ramsay facility and work independently without NHS employment, or Medical Practitioners employed by Ramsay who have no NHS employment. Ramsay has an online system available for all doctors who relate to Ramsay for appraisal and revalidation. There are also systems in place to support each doctor through the process of annual appraisal and revalidation. Find out more here.

The small print

To ensure we maintain quality services for our patients, Consultants must be able to provide evidence to support their independent practice with us. This includes:

  • • Holding a substantive Consultant post and registered on the GMC specialist register.
  • • Minimum private medical indemnity cover of £10million (to treat private patients).
  • • No conflicts of interest by working with Ramsay Health Care UK.
  • • Highest standards of professionalism
  • • Adherence to the Speaking Up for Safety and Promoting Professional Accountability code of conduct.
  • • Compliance with Ramsay Health Care Facility Rules.
  • • Submission of all required documents requested as part of the application process.
